Kazkar Feni Cashew Liqueur 750ML is a triple-distilled Indian cashew apple spirit bottled at 42.8% ABV in a 750ml format. Produced in Goa from fermented cashew apple juice — not the nut — Kazkar represents a lighter, more approachable interpretation of traditional Goan feni, specifically designed for versatility behind the bar and as an export-quality sipping spirit.
Quick Facts: ABV: 42.8% | Origin: Goa, India | Style: Triple-Distilled Cashew Apple Feni | Distillery: Kazkar
Production & Heritage
Feni is Goa's signature spirit, carrying a Geographical Indication (GI) tag that restricts authentic production to the state. Kazkar Feni is made entirely from the juice of ripe cashew apples, which are harvested, pressed, and naturally fermented before undergoing triple distillation. This additional distillation pass distinguishes Kazkar from many traditional single- or double-distilled fenis, yielding a cleaner, less pungent profile that has found a market in the United States and Europe as a mixing spirit.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: The nose opens with funky, overripe tropical fruit and a pronounced earthy quality. Beneath those top notes sits a fermented cashew apple character — slightly wild and distinctly Goan.
Taste: The palate is bold and fruit-forward on entry, with a slightly sour tang that recalls fresh cashew apple. Mid-palate, mineral and earthy tones emerge, adding complexity without heaviness. Despite the 42.8% ABV, the triple distillation keeps the texture relatively smooth.
Finish: Dry and intense, with a lingering earthiness and a subtle hint of nuttiness that appears only at the tail end. The length is moderate to long, leaving a clean impression.
How to Drink Kazkar Feni
Neat or over a single large ice cube rewards those interested in experiencing the spirit's full cashew apple character. However, Kazkar truly shines as a cocktail ingredient, where it can replace vodka or tequila in many classic templates. A Feni Mule — substituting feni for vodka with ginger beer and lime — highlights its fruity earthiness. A Feni Margarita leverages the spirit's natural sourness alongside citrus and agave. A Cashew Colada, blending Kazkar with coconut cream and pineapple juice, plays up the tropical fruit dimension already present in the base spirit.
