Jidvei VSOP Brandy 750ML is a Romanian grape brandy bottled at 42% ABV (84 proof) after a minimum of five years aging in Transylvanian oak. A Frankfurt International Trophy Silver medalist, this expression draws its character from two indigenous and classic varietals — Fetească Regală and Riesling — grown on what is Romania's largest contiguous vineyard estate.
Quick Facts: ABV: 42% | Origin: Târnave, Transylvania, Romania | VSOP (Minimum 5 Years) | Distillery: Jidvei
Production & Heritage
Jidvei operates over 2,500 hectares of contiguous vineyard in the Târnave wine region of Alba County, Transylvania — making it the largest single-estate vineyard in Romania. The brandy is produced by double-distilling high-acidity wines made from Fetească Regală and Riesling grapes, a varietal combination that lends bright fruit character to the base spirit. After distillation, the brandy matures for a minimum of five years in barrels made from Transylvanian oak, which imparts a distinctive warm spice and toasted quality that sets it apart from Western European brandies.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Dried apricot and stewed plum rise first on the nose, followed by warm vanilla and a faint trace of toasted oak. Underneath, subtle notes of brioche and toffee add depth as the brandy opens in the glass.
Taste: The entry is soft with ripe stone fruit and dark caramel, building toward a mid-palate of vanilla cream and cinnamon warmth. Medium-bodied and round, the Riesling-origin acidity keeps the sweetness in check. Hints of nutmeg and clove emerge as the brandy coats the palate.
Finish: Toasted almond and coconut linger on a moderately long finish with gentle warmth and a dry, spiced fade. There is no harshness — just a steady, clean close that invites the next sip.
